Fellowship Program: Fellowship Program is a key activity of ANRAP. The Fellowship is offered by selecting candidates from different countries interested in working in a laboratory other than his/her own with the consent of the host country. ANRAP provides airfare and a humble subsistence allowance (usually $250 per month). The host laboratory provides all the laboratory facilities. So, 23 Fellows from 8 countries have availed this opportunity to gain experience in working in another laboratory with facilities lacking in the home laboratory. Most of the Fellows used the combination of working facilities in biological (BIRDEM) and chemical (DU) fields in the laboratories barely 1 km apart. Anti-diabetic rat models developed in BIRDEM was the main tool for biological testing on live rat models, pancreas, isolated pancreatic islets and even b-cells. In Pakistan, the Fellows utilized the excellent spectroscopic facilities for structure elucidation of their isolated pure compounds. A list of Fellows, their host country and period of Fellowship is given in the following Table.
